The Odyssey: An Adventure For The Ages

Overview

After a ten-year violent and bloody war with Troy, the Greeks emerge victorious. Now Odysseus, King of Ithaca, is ready to return home to his family. During his return, he angers the mighty Olympian Poseidon, King of the Seas. As a result, he must now face monsters, giants, cannibals, sorceresses, sea beasts, angry seas, and an Olympian who is out to destroy him. A journey that should have taken a few weeks to complete will now take him years to finish. If he survives the return, he must find a way to defeat the despicable usurpers who are trying to marry his wife and steal his throne. Against all odds, Odysseus must rely on his cunning, wits, and a little luck to safely return home, save his family, and rescue his kingdom.

Excerpt

The creature leaned back and began to laugh. “Stranger, you are a fool who does not understand this land or our ways. We are descendants of the great cyclopes Brontes, Steropes, and Arges, brothers of the Titians who helped the Olympians defeat them in war. We do not honor the rules of hospitality, nor do we fear the Olympians!”

Suddenly the cyclops seized two of Odysseus’s men. Then he bashed their heads against the rocks, pulled a stone knife, carved them up, and ate them as the rest watched helplessly.

After his grizzly feast, the cyclops spoke again. “You Greeks are tougher than the Phoenician travelers that have passed this way,” he said. Then he mockingly addressed Odysseus. “Thank you for your hospitality. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such delicacies. I will greatly enjoy them for a long time.” Then he laughed, prepared his bed, and went to sleep.
